Former Executive vice-President of Unistar Nuclear Energy, wholly-owned EDF subsidiary in the United States, Michel Maschi took over the reins of R&D’s global operations on June 1, 2012. Before making the transatlantic journey to North America, he held the role of Senior Audit Manager within the Corporate Audit Division in Paris, from September 2006 to December 2009. As such, he oversaw audits involving the principal risks tied to EDF’s activities in France and worldwide, and specifically within the field of nuclear energy with solid field experience under his belt, Michel Maschi also managed the Blayais nuclear power station in the southwest of France, which has four 900-Mw units and 1,250 employees. He also participated in the launch and development of several nuclear engineering projects in France and abroad. For nearly the past twenty years, this graduate from Ecole Polytechnique, graduate from MINES-ParisTech, and father of three, has held a series of high-responsibility positions in the areas of engineering design and preparation for the start-up and steering of multiple projects in the French nuclear sector in Cattenom, Flamanville and Cruas, as well as in China and Slovakia.
