Simon Lacoste-Julien, Researcher – INRIA

SimonSimon Lacoste-Julien is a researcher at INRIA with a joint affiliation in the Computer Science Department of the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. His research interests are in machine learning, optimization and statistics (the science behind making sense of Big Data) with applications in natural language processing, computer vision and information retrieval at large scale. He completed a B.Sc. Triple Honours in mathematics, physics and computer science at McGill
University in 2003, a Ph.D in computer science and statistics at UC Berkeley in 2009, and then worked as a post-doc at the University of Cambridge before joining INRIA. He was awarded the McGill Moyse Travelling Scholarship and the UC Berkeley College of Engineering Graduate Student Prize.
